Common Musk Turtle--Sternotherus oderatus
Location of photo: Mullica River in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Note: If you ever attempt to catch these guys, make sure you hold them away from your body, with no part of your hand around their backside. They are called "stinkpots" for a reason.
